Literature Text

I battle through the empty streets, trying to get home and out of the cold. Dean said that I should have got the shopping in earlier in the week, but I ignored him favouring the telly. And now I regret it, seeing as I’m out in the heaviest snow we’ve had in years. It batters my face and, despite the fact that I’m wearing a scarf and coat, flakes fall down my shirt and melt on my back which feels horrible. I can barely see through the thick fog and blizzard, and several times I almost go the wrong way, saving myself just in time.

Finally I turn into our street, and start walking up towards the apartment. Suddenly my feet go out from under me and I fall to the ground, bashing my head and knee on the ice. OUCH. I try to get to my feet but slip again, grabbing onto a bush to save myself from hitting the ground again. I stagger forwards, and manage to get out of the patch of black ice that I’d slipped on. Looking down, I see I’ve managed to graze my knee and rip a hole in my trousers, which I haven’t managed to do since I was in primary school. The cold wind rushes onto my skin, and I shiver. Time to hurry back.

I finally get to the apartment and unlock the door. I’m met with a blast of warm air, which is really welcome after the cold. I catch a glance in the mirror and see my face is bright red from the cold, and my hair is all messy from wearing my woolly hat. I look ridiculous.

“You look ridiculous.” Dean says as I’m walk into the living room.
“I know!” I reply, smiling as I put down my bags.

I curl up on the sofa and grab the blanket from the floor. It’s just been living there in this cold weather, me and Dean being too lazy to get it out and put it away every time it’s used! I snuggle into it, but it doesn’t warm me up. The snow appears to have quite literally frozen me solid.

“I’m so cold!” I mutter, and Dean comes over and gives me a hug.
“This better?” he asks, smiling.
“A bit...”

He moves away and neither of us talk for a moment, but then I get an idea.

“Deaaaaaaan... my nose is cold....” he shuffles over and gives it a kiss.
“Better?”
“Yeah... but my cheeks are cold now!” he kisses both of them.
“Better?”
I nod and try and build up the courage to ask my next question.
“Um... Dean... my mouth is cold”

He slams his lips against mine and I kiss back passionately, knowing that it’s pretty much make or break now. It’s gone too far to go back now. If he really didn’t want this then he wouldn’t have kissed me on the lips, right? I try to take advantage of kissing him, just in case this is the last time we do this. After SITC I’d always wanted to kiss him again, and finally we are once again. I pull back, searching his eyes for some sort of feeling.

“Um... you did want that right?” he says, blushing.
“I can’t explain how much I wanted that.”
“Maybe you should go out in a blizzard more often?” he says, giggling.
“Or maybe you could just kiss me for the hell of it?” I suggest.
“Yeah... that could work too!”
Easing myself back into writing with a little one-shot... I hope you like it.
